Xavier -> How to get rid of space inbetween rollover images (11/12/2002 9:42:47)

Hope anyone out there can help me with this, getting rid of the space I get after using the rollover tutorial on this site:
http://www.outfront.net/tutorials_02/adv_tech/rollovers1.htm

First I tried using Image Ready (Adobe) to create rollovers but since that didn' t work I' ve found myself looking for a solution elsewhere. Everything works after applying this tutorial only the images which should neatly be stagged on top of another in a menu kind of way are slightly spaced from another.
Getting rid of: <!--webbot bot=" HTMLMarkup" startspan --> in the HTML in Frontpage 2000 seemed to work in Frontpage itself but after viewing the page in my browser the spaces between the rollovers still exist.

If anyone knows how to handle that I' d appreciate it (I don' t have the pages uploaded yet).

Peace,
Xavier

When you place your images on the page, try " shift enter" instead of just " enter" . By default, FP uses double spacing between lines.

Hope this is helpful.

Thank you for the reply however I use <br> to get the next image on the second line, third etc... So that couldn' t be it, any other suggestions?

Much appreciated,
Xavier

you could try placing them into a table or layer that is the same width as each button, then don' t put any <br> between them... they will wrap on their own...

Also, double check to make sure that if you have <p> tags around the buttons there is only one at the beginning and one at the end... not closing after each button..

Do you have a page with code we can see? Are you laying these out horizontally or verically?

Two things to check:

1) If you' re using a table, with one image per cell, make sure cellpadding and cellspacing are both =" 0" .

2) Make sure there aren' t a lot of spaces before or after each IMG tag. If there are, browsers will sometimes leave a little space between images. This is more visible in a horizontal layout.

Also, Paint Shop Pro does an excellent job with rollovers. Be sure to read the help files or manual, though--it' s a little counterintuitivethe first time.
