update problems.. - 5/28/2001 13:11:00
I am trying to update a database that contains shows.. whenever I update I get the error:

Database Results Error
Description: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Syntax error in UPDATE statement.
Number: -2147217900 (0x80040E14)
Source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers

By trial and error I have discovered the error lies in the Date and Time fields. Date is a Date/Time field and Time is just a plain text field... heres my code...

new_date = "#" & Request("Date") & "#"
fp_sQry="UPDATE Results SET day_name='" & Request("day_name") & "', Date= " & new_date & ", Time='" & Request("Time") & "', Venue='" & Request("Venue") & "', Price=" & Request("Price") & ", Bands='" & Request("Bands") & "', Email='" & Request("Email") & "', Phone_Num='" & Request("Phone_Num") & "' WHERE ID = " & Request("ID")

Here's what it looks like when I spit it out...

UPDATE Results SET day_name='Friday', Date= #6/8/2001#, Time='5:30PM', Venue='Club Liquid', Price=8, Bands='Drowningman Darkest Hour A Life Once Lost Scary German Guy .EndofMe.', Email='dc1350@hotmail.com', Phone_Num='(717) 336-7877' WHERE ID = 27

Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated.. thanks..

Firstly, Date and time are restricted terms. Change them to something else and see how it looks.

It may be because Date and Time are reserved words. Try either enclosing them in square brackets like this . . .

& "', [Date]= " & new_date & ", [Time]='" & Request("Time") &
or changing the name of the fields to say myDate, myTime

All the best
