Breadcrumbs for FP 2002 - 11/20/2002 9:52:19
Here a little add in I came across while visiting our friends at Microsoft. It' s a 3rd party script for adding breadcrumbs to FP 2002 sites. There are a couple of others there that may be of interest also.

Hey Mike54, cool little addin!

Now, if I can figure out how to get the Breadcrumbs to work. Should I be seeing a new menu somewhere in my FP interface called Breadcrumbs?

P.S. Yes, I did unzip the file and it went into the default directory that was chosen based on the addin requirements.

<addendum>

After a little bit of searching I found the instructions on how to use the addin. Unfortunately, the breadcrumbs are not appearing in my components list as the instructions state. I' ve uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail.

Bummer, I was looking forward to testing the functionality of the breadcrumbs. For those of you interested in SEO (Search Engine Optimization), breadcrumbs are an important element of site structure.

Has anyone else had trouble getting the Copyright updater?

My apologies to all. In the future I' ll make sure to test drive before posting.:):):)

I have gotten the breadcrumbs to show up in the insert web components list of FP but have yet to get them to work (I' m getting an object expected error). I believe the installation creates its own folder called Microsoft (instead of placing it in the existing Microsoft Office folder) where, if you follow the indicated path you' ll find the config file and a folder called kwbreadcrumbs.
Program Files > Microsoft > Office 10 > 1033 > webcomp >
If you just move the config and folder to
Program Files > Microsoft Office > Office 10 > 1033 > webcomp
the component should show up in the components list.

Again my apologies.

I spoke with Paul and he determined that the problem was one word using a lower case letter instead of an upper case one. He' s since uploaded a revision at http://www.kaosweaver.com/frontpage/.

I' ve since tried it again and didn' t encounter either error mentioned here.

One thing to note is that it' s very literal and will show you the path from wherever it is. So until you publish the page it' ll show you the path of where the file is currently saved.

It' s also possible to affect the font by putting the attributes around the script. (You might know that. I didn' t. :))

Hi,

Does anyone have or know where to find a FrontPage add-in to create DHTML or Java pull down menus?

Thanks
Hisham

MCD,

Just a note, the automatic copyright updater should be used with some disgression. For instance, If you have not added anthing since the first of the year, there is nothing to copyright.

I' m writing this based on some ignorance of the workings of the plug-in. If it only changes on the first update into the new year, say 2/2/2003, then the action would be valid. If it automatically changes the date on 1/1/2003 at one second past midnight, the it' s of questionalble value.

Some of my client' s web sites haven' t been updated since 2000. The latest copyright date on those sites remains at 2000.
