Zorko -> editing submitted form data (11/22/2002 19:42:33)

Hope to god this is the right forum for this question, hopefully someone can help me with this.

I' m wanting a way to edit submitted form data from a guestbook and discussion form. I followed the link from the FAQ but as usual for microsoft, the document has obviously been moved. Need to be able to moderate the data to remove potential obscene language etc. Can anyone help?

Thanks in anticipation

Mark

Welcome to OutFront Zorko

This is from FP help...

Manage discussion group articles
You can manage the articles that are posted in a discussion group. For example, you can modify an article that contains offensive language.

On the Tools menu, click Web Settings, and then click the Advanced tab.
Select Show documents in hidden directories.
Click OK.
Click Yes to refresh the web.
Click Folders view.
Navigate to the directory you specified for discussion group articles.
Discussion group articles are named 0001.htm, 0002.htm, and so on.

Open articles as needed in Page view by double-clicking the file name.
If you find an offensive article, do not delete it. Instead, type a standard message replacing the article body, such as " [Deleted Article]." By not deleting the message, you will protect forward and backward hyperlinks to other articles in the discussion group thread.

Good luck!

Hi Swirl, thanks for that but it hasn' t solved the problem.

Just as a bit of background, i' m using FP2002 and used the discussion web wizard to create the form. I' ve already tried the ' show hidden folders' option but I couldn' t find any files containing the test messages I had posted. Definitely have' nt got any files of the 000*.htm type.

I was wondering if the files would be left ' server-side' and need editing online? or is there someway to force FP to synchronise files from the server?

I' m completely at a loss to be honest, I know the files must be stored somewhere but I can guarantee it isn' t on my hard drive.

Any ideas?

Some extra info:

Just used the ' publish web' option so i can see the files from the server side. The files i need to edit are there, but aren' t on my hard drive.

What is going to be my best way to edit them?
I can copy the location, paste into IE and edit, but will just copying the new file into my local FP web guarantee the file is replaced on the next ' publish web' ?

You have two options:

1. Open the site live and edit them on the server - probably my preferred option.

2. Use File > Import to bring the complete _disc folder into the web on your computer, edit them, then try publishing. Check that they did publish correctly.

No! [:D][:p]

Just for information.....

Thanks for the advice, trying to open the site live wouldn' t work because the _disc1 folder would not display. (Unless I missed something else :+;)

Solution eventually was the second suggestion.
Imported the _disc1 folder only into FP, modified the offending test message, turned off publishing for all the other files, then published back to the web.

Only one more thing now, assuming i get hundreds of post' s, how do i select 99 out of 100 files and set to not publish? I hope multiple file selection works, but I bet it doesn' t. (My sort of luck!)
