" Contribute" for simplified FrontPage mods? - 12/16/2002 17:50:48
I tried macromedia' s Contribute thingy, advertised to permit simplified updates to FrontPage. NOT. In my test, its FTP engine butchered up a FrontPage page. Their tutorial was fascinating. Not only could your client add/modify text, they could also add pictures. Even Links. Create pages from templates. I wish there was a way that I could allow my customers to edit / add text, and free me for more creative work. Any ideas? - An " /Include" directory which COULD be safely ftp' d to? - A version of FrontPage Super Lite with adjustable restrictions? Just some thoughts......

- An " /Include" directory which COULD be safely ftp' d to? I have done this for clients. Since the FTP directory can be specified, you can limit them to that one. Works OK for text, and simple HTML files. There are some interesting Java and Perl Scripts that allow file uploads but I have yet to use one for a client. This is a very " in-demand" feature so I bet we will see some really good ones soon...

So cool! How do I restrict a directory in a FP web to FTP only? If it matters, it' s a virtual domain on a Unix/Apache server...

[:p] Linda, I read the description and tried the editor on their web site. COOL. This is the IDEAL, just what I had been dreaming about. And you say it even WORKS? Let me know what problems you have implementing it. Only $20 for a site-wide license? SUPER!
