Web on IIS Hangs - 12/20/2002 10:14:17
Hi Guys, I have a reasonably complex ASP web site on our intranet which is being served by IIS. Occasionally (say 1 a month at the most) the web hangs. By hang I mean, all pages that access' s the database just sit there, no error is returned and no page is displayed. The pages all normally work fine so can be assumed bug free. All other webs on the server are untouched and work fine, including database intereaction. The only way to recover is to reboot the server. (start/stop services does nothing). Because everything else carries on working the problem seems to be with my access 2000 database interactions ??? Anyone know how I can debug the server if it gets in this state again. btw: It all ran fine on a different server for months. Cheers and merry christmas to you all. Neil

couple a thoughts... 1. Is the service stopped or just looping. You may be able to determine this using the system monitor thingy, system resource meter, I forget what it' s called. 2. Is the system updated as far as service paks for W2K, and are you using the newest version of the MS Jet database engine. There was an update not too long ago. 3. If data retrieval is actually getting denied, there should be a log entry being written as to why...

get rid of access and go to sql. access will never hold up to this.
