Help with directories problem please - 12/20/2002 18:45:27
Hi,

I transferred a site to another host, however it doesn' t show up in the root of the web (businessname.com) but in the directory businessname.com/public_html

How can I move it up to the root?

Do I need to rename all my files?

Here' s the sites temporary location:

www.ihost-websites.com/public_html

Thanks,
Herman

public_html is a pretty standard directory for port 80 (HTTP) request. Why would you want the HTML files in root?

Thanks for teh speedy reply

You' ll have to enlighten me - port 80?

I want the site to read all files contained in public_html, so when I enter businessname.com all files read from businessname.com/images etc, rather than businessname/public_html/images

Do you see what I mean?

Thanks,
Herman

That' s the " standard" way a web server is configured. A " index/default.html/htm file in the /public_html directory will be viewed when accessing the domain @ http://domain.com

I have no idea what/who ihost-websites.com is, but if an index.html file located in the public_html directory doesn' t parse the server is configured wrong. But going thru the DNS servers at refhost.net could have some thing to do with it.

Herman, if you' ll email me with what you are " attempting" to do and how you are trying it, I might be able to help.
