Which One? - 1/11/2003 13:03:50
I am redesigning a site and have a few templates up. The client is not sure what way to jump, not am I.

Any opinions would be great. These are images by the way, so the pages do not do anything at all!

Original site for reference: http://www.fionaharrold.com

Which of these (if any!):

Template 1
Template 2
Template 3
Template 4

Some of those are pretty similar BTW, in case you think it is a mistake!

The image can change - it is just the only one I have to play with for now.

Thanks in advance for any opinions.

#1 for me

I need to see a header to set the page apart.

1 & 2.

Though #1 is having a strange effect on me with the gray banner box at the top.

#1 -- the gray really sets it off nicely :)

Although I' d love to not see on the actual working site the line " welcome to my site" .[:' (]

...sorry, I realize it' s just the text from the existing site, but quite a pet peeve of mine!

#1 - I very much like the contrast the grey provides in the header.

Any opinions would be great.

Some site review comments:

I' d personally prefer the " Fiona Harrold Life Coaching" logo/type on Template #2 (san serif) to replace the one shown on Template #1, my design preference. The current gray color text would be changed to white, and the thin drop shadow added. I prefer the simplicity of it and the smaller font size.

If you keep the serif font, I suggest making it a tad smaller and moving it up by the same amount.

I don' t care for the font used for " Life' s better..." slogan. It' s not that I mind a script font style, I just don' t think that particular one fits in with the overall design.

Regarding the blue and pink colors, I wish they were a different shade and tone, more muted. They are colors associated with babies and she is a Life Coach who works with adults.

Ditto on the " Welcome to my site." [:' (]

Katherine,

I have to say it' s number 1 for me too. Seems to have that little something extra about it.

I like #1. The gray adds something to it.

Hi Katherine,

I liked 4 better than one (slightly) but I did like the grey in the header of 1. How about a little of 1 stuck on top of 4?:)

:)

Hi Katherine,

I agree with Mike54. Put the grey header on top of #4. I think you need the grey box to complement the oval image.

Thanks all, this has been REALLY helpful.

I kind of agree with you - but those are the colors and they really want to stick with them.

I think we will be going with the grey on top of the other layout as Mike suggested.

Katherine:

I am sorry I saw this late, but I really loved the initial impression I got with template 1.

While some of the comments about changes to template 1 sound good, I am sure you realise that the majority thinks it is headed in the right direction.

Oh.

I was just about to reply to ask WHAT you were talking about - then I looked at the text - I see now.

I never heard of ol' Norman myself, and I am ashamed to admit I never even read that copy - I just pasted it right in there :)

Hi Katherine,
See here Dr. Norman Vincent Peale

Mom subscribed to the Guidepost magazine in the 1950' s and 1960' s and I still have his books that she purchased over 30 years ago as part of our library.
