Hello everyone. I' m a complete amateur, my own client, have no class or sense of style, trying to run the business and do it all myself. I currently have a staff of one - me. As a result, I don' t have anywhere to turn to except here for advice, critiques, or opinions.

I will value any and all opinions that you fine people would care to offer.

My site is live and I' ve made a couple of sales, so it' s time to try to get a more professional look.

http://www.allamericanbeautysupply.com (I have an alternate url www.aabsupply.com for those customers that don' t want to use the " favorites" features. :)

Hi Superman/Women!

Great to meet you! :)

Seriously ..... I know how you feel. I currenly have a " full time" web design co. - I own a marketing co. - I' m a director of an international charity - I' m a full time youth worker - and I have three small kids. Zowie!!!!

So , back to your site ......

After I got past the first page I was impressed with the easy of use and load times.

However, the only reason I got past the first page is because you asked for a critque - I wouldn' t have normally bothered. That sounds harsh but its nothing that can' t be fixed:

Front Page:

1. Way too long.
a) try breaking it up into two pages - products & producer.
2. Try getting some product images & brand images on the first page

Gday whitemc

You have definetly got a huge site linked to the database.

One thing bothered me which was the load time on start up & on each return back to the home page.....a right click indicates 103K which can I gather means alot of code & scripts to gather stuff from all over the net as the images do not add up to much.

Maybe break the home page up into a few individual tables so they each load the table contents individually.
separate table for the header image at least so it is not reliant on the abs site downloads.

Needless to say maybe a dhtml menu system............hmmm more code.....I tell you, I' d get a headache working on that.

Cheers from the Outback

Micah and Garry

Thanks for the input. I' ve been thinking about breaking that up into a couple of pages, but now I' m convinced.

I really appreciate and value your opinions.

If I might get so bold as to ask another question?

What about color scheme, background, eye-appeal, professionalism? I think it looks amateurish, but I might be too hard on myself (or not).

Thanks
Mike

whenever I design a site I like to make sure that colour associates are maintained - ie. white = health & beauty because white = purity. Blue = clean. Also, a minimalist approach may suit your site better, again, because minimalist style reflects purity and beauty. As its a beauty site - you' ll need to show some " beautiful people" !

With that in mind you may want to make minor changes. I think that the rose background works with what you ahve - but if you change what you have it may not!

here' s one I like from 1st the best at http://www.1stthebest.com/design/template/default.asp?iddt=217 1st
the best
