To Spooky Login or Not? - 2/3/2003 13:18:30
Hi,

I use a lot of streaming media for my online basketball camp. Users can come to my site and watch streaming basketball drills for free.

I am wondering if I should require them to register (for free) to watch these. My streaming costs are going up (but are definetly worth it) and am thinking I should get user info in return so I contact my users and are not a lost face.

The only downside I see is that people may not take the time to register and leave the site. However my site is very unique and they can' t find this info elsewhere. What to you guys think? My site is www.hoopsking.com

Thanks,

Chris

Instead of putting it as needing to register before they can view the drills, set up a " Members Only" section and make sure they know it' s free. Have it be a plus instead of a negative. :)

Seeing how the drills are currently a big part of your content that the user first sees, maybe instead have info on the first page on the unique content of the site broken into sections. A few articles would be great. An Editor' s pick of different books, videos or programs would be awesome.... something to help them choose between all the available ones.

Shopping guide opens in a new window and the file is lableled as christmas2002, which makes it look dated. When clicking the shopping guide I was hoping for something that would give a personal recommendation instead of just more selections with the normal blurb.

There are many uses for Spooky' s kickarse system... This sounds great... very good marketing tool. I can' t see a negative.
