" Publish Changed Pages Only" - 2/6/2003 13:30:10
I have a Site with a massive amount of individual pages. Whenever I Publish, FP goes through each & every file/page whether they have any updates or not.....takes forever! I tried selecting the option to Publish changed pages only, but it still goes through every file. Any suggestions? tks!

I think that FP is checking all of the pages to see if they have changed. Do know you know if it is faster when you publish by overwritting or changing the updated pages?

Hi arigsbee, When publishing the site for the very first time use the ' Publish all overwriting any on the location' option. After that use the ' Publish changed pages only' What happens is that once the web is uploaded for the first time, Fp will only need to check for changed pages in future which cuts down the load time. The first time you log on to publish, Fp will check the whole site for changes, after that providing you don' t close Fp, it will have already mapped out the contents on the server so any uploads are instantly recognised as changed files. The other way for speed is to open up the website on the server as well as on your hard-drive and drag the changed files over into the web. this can be quick but can also lead to confusion over time.
