Credit Card Processing - 2/9/2003 12:13:32
Hi,

I am not sure where to post this question.

I have a customer who already has a merchant account. She does not need an involved storefront package but wants to be able to take the credit card payment online using her existing merchant account. What is the best way to do this. Should I tell her to contact her merchant account provider for online processing or is there a software that I can include on her site just for this purpose.

Thanks,

Patti

First Patti; do they have a " on line or Internet" account? Not all merchant accounts allow for on line transactions.

Assuming they do -

You' ll need a clearing house or processor (Authorize.net for example) to approve the transactions and do the ACH transfer to the clients bank account. This can be as simple as form that sends the info to the clearing house or a " shopping cart" .

Email me if you need a more detailed explanation...

Gil - is it possible to have the credit card info taken on a secure server and sent by PGP encrypted email for the merchant to process themself?

Yes it' s possible and I' ve had a few clients do that - but usually within a few months they switch to on-line processing. Seems the time/labor in collecting the info (from PGP mail) and swiping it thru a machine and emailing the customer gets too much after the sales volume reaching a certian level. Don' t ask what that level is - I haven' t figured it out yet [:p]

Hi Gil.

I noticed your post in the lounge right after I posted this. Will be checking it out.

I will also check with the customer, not sure if her merchant account allows online transactions.

Thanks,

Patti

looking for high risk merchant account - 3/31/2009 4:22:36
Hi there,

I am same with you.I am looking for the merchant account as well. But i don't know which one is better for my gambling site, which is considered the high risk business. So I tried to find the the high risk merchant account provider.I heard that Ctopay is a the suitable one.I have no idea.I just contact with the sales manager of ctopay--Mr. Yang(his skype account is ctopayhk2).From the conversation with him,I find it good, and will cooperate with him.

1. Contact her Card Processor / Merchant Account Provider and ask about e-commerce processing. They probably offer it already.

2. Ask for the "non qualified" rates for e-commerce processing. It will be higher than the transactions processed with a card present. It's negotiable, don't accept their rates or the fees without asking for best price. The non-qualified rates vary from 3.5% up to 5% for standard storefronts the last time I checked.

3. Choose a storefront that's easy to manage or one that won't take a lot of your time if you'll be doing the updates after setup. I've read good things about 3D Cart and GoDaddy shopping carts.

Good Luck!

Greg
