Credit Card Now - eCommerce - 2/11/2003 8:28:14

Does anyone have any experience with ccNow? http://www.ccnow.com/

I' m looking for an ecommerce solution for someone that only has a single item to sell. Plus they want to be able to take donations online for their ministry.

thanks, gail

I didn' t look at the site. So don' t know about the 9.95

I used to use them... it was free unless you had a sale then you paid a hefty %

Is this really a lot for someone who will only be selling a few items? As to the donations, I suppose they can set that up in units, with X amount of money sold like an item.

Are there not a lot more expenses involved with other ecommerce setups? They appear to be better suited for use by someone who has numerous items to sell. Or am I missing something?

In this particular case, my guess is that each year the ministry will only be selling a couple dozen of their one music CD. Don' t know how many donations they' ll get online but it is a very localized ministry.

thanks, gail

I think it is a lot, especially if they are only selling a few items. If they were selling a lot the $9.95 becomes less daunting. But in that case 9% would be ludicrous. So either way, looks like a lot to me.

$9.95 per month is $119.40 per year, which would pretty much wipe out the value of sales completely, say they sell 24 CDs a year - that' s $4.97 per CD, and that IS a lot.

Have you taken a look at www.2checkout.com? I have had an overall good experience with them and they are quite a bit cheaper.

I have also used Paysystems for a few clients and have had no problems there either. http://www.paysystems.com/

Paypal!!!!

You only get whacked for 2.5% and they have a generator to build the HTML for the buttons for " Buy It" and " Make a Donation."

Plus, where you need a PayPal account to make the transaction, the chances of fraud dip dramatically.

My 2 cents...

yep, I think the solution for this is PayPal. they can create the buttons for both of those features.....

I use paypal for almost an identical situation. A couple of items to sell and donations and it seems to be very satisfactory for them.

Abby...

As usual your advice here is most helpful. I' ve been looking for a simple turnkey solution for e-commerce.

I have actually signed up for 2checkout.com and so far am tickled pink. Once I get my fledgling business going, I' m am sure I' ll like it more.

I have also put paysystems.com in my bookmarks as well. It seems to be fairly straightforward as well.

Again--thanks.
