DRW in shared borders? - 2/14/2003 16:31:40
Can the DRW be used within shared borders? Even though the main pages are .asp, the shared borders are stored in .htm files, and I cannot get DRW to display within shared borders. Any way to get FP 2K or XP to recognize shared border files that are renamed to .asp? I want to use DRW within a right shared border -- only the DRW and a formatted header will be in the border. Is this feasible, or should I look for a different approach?

I like includes, and have used them previously, but if I understand correctly, wouldn' t I need to convert the page (except for the header and footer) into a table to get the layout? If basically the whole page is in a table, wouldn' t that mean a browser would load the whole thing before displaying any of it? I generally have reasonable pages, as far as load time goes, but I' d like the customers to see something as the pages load. Maybe I am missing something?

smcfarland -- I' m grateful -- It has taken me a while to figure out how I can incorporate your suggestions. Bobby -- the shared borders definitely do not work with DRW in them, even if they' re displaying on .asp pages. Includes are the way I have to go with this. Now I guess I' m going to need to take a lot of time and get my pages reformatted without the left and right shared borders... Not fun but it will be worth it, I think. Thank you both for your help. For what it' s worth, I' m using floating tables for the layout so that I do not have to turn the whole page into a table.

Couldn' t get DRW to work in includes either. My EUREKA moment came after using the Spooky Diet to reduce the code bloat -- suddenly the include files worked! I have never been this happy about any gadget, tool, or method. The macro did not work for me, though -- no worry, I don' t mind putting in the time manually hacking it if it means it will work properly! BTW, if the macro freezes up FP, using CTRL+BREAK interrupts the macro and frees the system without having to lose work.
