" Cannot rename" - 2/24/2003 7:29:14
Thanks to those offering advice on this message problem when trying to upload my FP2000 site. I now have no capitals, spaces or underscores in my file names. But I still can' t get going.

These are the files my upload is stumbling on (as you will see, I am using Sumi Painting as a theme)

sumbul3a.gif
sumbul2a.gif
sumhoma.gif
sumfibuha.gif
sumbusa.gif

I also got (in my first ten attempts) blank.gif index.htm top.htm
graph1.css

I gave up after ten attempts - goodness knows what else is going wrong. I thought FrontPage would be relatively easy for the amateur!

Hi Barrynewbie

You say your upload is stumbling when it hits those files, what exactly happens? Are you getting errors? Is this during the publishing process?

Hi Swirl,

On 2/20/03 I wrote -

" I know this was asked a couple of years ago, but answer not helping me. I am trying to send my FP2000 website to the host but keep getting " Server error Cannot rename (various files and pictures)" . Am I doing something basically wrong? (Bits of the site have been published OK, so I am doing something right.) "

The replies I had genberally said remove capitals, spaces and underscores, but the inherrent problem is still there.

Hope you can help

Barry

Sure, but very little of it has loaded.

Go to www.hmscaptain.co.uk

Just noticed on the forum a problem raised earlier this month regarding downloading which implies that the use of xp home could be a problem. Any thoughts?

Hi Barry

I' m sorry, but I' m not really sure what to suggest. Have you tried deleting the site from the server and republishing?
