Hot Idea, No Knowledge - 3/5/2003 18:17:49
:) Hi guys and gals,

I' m a complete newbie to site building but I' m reasonable with computers and willing to read all the manuals :), so can you help please?

My problem is... I have an idea for a website :) and I have somebody to host my site but - I need to know the easiest way to build a site and maintain it( I have Frontpage with my Windows Xp).
Also I want my main page to look not too different to this one [:' (], which I understand has a lot of macro or flash or whatever - is this a problem? :)

http://www.weebl.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/index_flash.htm

Please can you help as I am keen as a young salmon to get upstream, but nobody to show me the way!

Cheers :)
Gil

the site you refer to is definitely a flash site.

easiest doesn' t usually mean the best way.

If you looking to build a flash site you' ll need the flash program made by Macromedia:

for tips and tutorials on flash try

If you want Flash, a cheaper alternative is Swish www.swishzone.com -- but I doubt you can do a full site with it. Cheaper, great program, but much less power for something like that.

Also check www.frontpagecommerce.com/shop/shopaff.asp for templates, both for web sites and for Swish.... not full flash sites, but would be a much easier option in case you' re interested.

You absolutely can do a full site with SWiSH. I have done a couple of them.
You need to use sprites and scripting but it can be done. There is not much flash can do that Swish can' t.

forgot to mention a GREAT Swish site. Excellent forum with super friendly people. Kinda like here :) http://www.ultra-fused.com

Thanks for the replies guys. I think I have gathered that there is no easy or quick solution, I' ll just have to start from scratch and read everything available.

Thank you again, I' ll be back in the future with more silly newbie questions like - " how do I load Frontpage?"

Cheers

Yogi:)
