opinions needed - 3/8/2003 19:24:19
Hi everybody, I would like your opinion of this Home page. I am a minimalist at heart, but people need information. Do you think it has to much text? Does the page make you want to investigate or bail? Does the page convey custom scents and bath products? I am going to fill the bottom with simple text to link somewhere None of the links work and a few other things but I don' t want to go to far down one path then junk it The New Link http://www.charmcitysolutions.com/test/index.htm Thanks, Barry

My text size is set to medium. If I set it to smaller it looks fine. As far as I know medium is the default setting - so likely to be commonly used but I cannot figure out why I am the only one who keeps having this problem with your sites. [:' (] I like it btw - though I do think the Distributer program text looks very odd stuck in at the bottom. It would probably work ok if it was the same width as the rest and possibly on the same pale green bg as at the top.

Do you think it has to much text? Text wise, I think it' s not too much, but any more could be overdoing it. you want to give your audience enough to make them continue into the site. quote:
Does the page make you want to investigate or bail? If that was what I was interested in, I would want to investigate. You are able to discuss what it is you are selling, without going into great detail. quote:
Does the page convey custom scents and bath products? I would say yes it does... The one suggestion I would make (which was made already) would be to make the distributor program text the same width as the rest of the site, and I would make the text a bit smaller. right now it distracts from the rest of the page. when i opened the link, that' s the 1st thing that caught my eye, then i scanned up...

Hi Barry, Personally, I don' t care for either of the pictures...the nude lady is just...I don' t know. [:p] I do like the butterflies...they give it a nice airy touch....(I hadn' t thought about them attacking though; that was pretty funny! LOL) I don' t think, personally, that the black background is appropriate for the rest of the graphics and the " feel" of the site. I would go with something a little more breezy... but of course, that' s just a personal opinion. I agree that the " Distributor" text at the bottom is out of place there.

I have to agree with peppergal on this one. Nude lady does not do anything for me. If I did not know you - I would probably leave the site. Some people may take offense to it. I did like the butterfly comments. You might want to make the distributor text a link to another site or the dreaded pop up. Can' t believe I said that.

Hi, Barry - Is there any money at all for a simple photo shoot? Maybe a photogenic member of the family would be willing or friend of the family? I' d actually like to see a close up of the product, and if you have a lady holding an open bottle smelling the lotion or gel, or holding the bottle in one hand and a dollop of the gel in the other and smelling the scent.... or simply a fun one of her smiling and holding one or several of the products! Have the model in a tube top and show her from the shoulders up... some skin, a bit of suggestion, but not as much as the butterfly lady. Any which way, I would like to see a close up of the product. Remember the strawberry with the chocolate? (think anyone here has forgotten that?[:p]) I think you could do the same thing here without even having a model. Make us WANT it! The graphics, colors, and layout here just doesn' t do that for me. Maybe some lotion pouring down a part of the screen and list out the fragrances available? ...another idea... got a photo somewhere of a woman enjoying a hot tub of water? Think spa... relaxation.... fragrance.... something that says " buy" . Want to add more sex appeal to that? Add a handsome guy (sans the shirt) leaning over the tub holding that chocolate strawberry... then advertise chocolate and/or strawberry scented products. 400 fragrances are a lot to promote, but maybe take a few " featured" ones and do something cool to promote that scent? (more realisticly, probably along the lines of flowers and fruit rather than a photo shoot with the models and the spa ) Linda

The girl is too big and the products too small. It really doesn' t give me a clue what you are selling. Linda' s ideas are great. My first thought was I would rather see the girl in a bathtub. That would at least give me the idea that it is bath products.

I LIKE IT!! I just think now there are too many butterflies. Perhaps get rid of that dark one in the center...I only know it' s a butterfly because I know that' s what it' s supposed to be... and I' d get rid of that one on the big pink spikey flower that' s sticking up in the air...not the little one on the left flower but the one on the right. I LOVE everything else though.

Hi Barry I like the new look much better, but I do have a few suggestions. First, I agree with Peppergal about the butterflies. I think you need to lose a few. I' d still like to see a picture of a lady in a bubblebath, or a tub filled with flowers maybe? Try using the background color, 99,99,66. It' s an olive green that I think would compliment the rest of the colors. I still think you need to work in a picture of some products. Have you considered centering the page? BTW, I like the fruit images you added to the other pages. You' re on the right track! Swirl

Please take this as constructive adn don' t hate me okay??? On my monitor the bg color looks like the color of babyfood. Baby peas to be exact. And those of us who have changed diapers after our babies ate that...well.... it does not bring to mind a nice fragrance. I' m sorry... but I know you want the truth. I like the rest just not the pea green bg color. edit: maybe I just need to adjust my monitor
