What would you do if this happened to you, and what about these meta tags?

What would you do if this happened to you, and what abo... - 3/11/2003 19:08:37
I recently saw a webpage that contained copy stolen from my website word for word. It was copy that I spent a lot of time writing to get that just right ranking. As a result, I got a #1 ranking on Goggle. This competitor stole the copy, and now he ranks #2 right under me. His stolen copy has caused a drop in our sales of that item. The interesting thing is, his item would never have been seen because he is not even in the business we' re in. We sell items that are in line with our website theme, and he is a completely other business.

I noticed in his SOURCE CODE that in addition to regular meta tags, he also uses " DC" metatags, as in:

<meta name=" DC.Title" content=" repeats key copy here" >
<meta name=" DC.Subject" content=" repeats key copy here" >
<meta name=" DC.Description" content=" repeats key copy here" >

Until now, I have not used these metatags. From the stand point of Search engine Optimization, does anyone know if GOOGLE and others are now using these DC metatags in their ranking system?

And, btw, about that stolen copy, what would you do?

Notify Google. I wouldn' t notify him until after that.... I wouldn' t want to take the chance of him changing the site before getting blacklisted.
