2 Javascripts on same page conflict - 3/14/2003 3:06:27
Hi There,

Haven' t posted here in ages...couldn' t figure out how to stay logged on long enough to get a post in. I' m holding my breath on this one.

I have a slideshow that has worked in the past but not working now. It hasn' t worked since I added a javascript top navigation menu.

A friend says that she thinks the conflict might be in the " new array" commands that both programs use. I' ll provide the links below and I' m hoping you guys will be able to figure out what the problem is...all I know is - it' s way over my head.

Offending page is here... http://fumcbixby.org/
Navigation Menu Alone is here... http://fumcbixby.org/sitemap.html

I put that second link in because that' s the only place I can find the source code since the actual menu has been inserted into the main page by using an include.

Hope you guys can help me.

Thanks in Advance,

Joe

Hi Andy and Thanks...

I had actually read that a couple of days ago and got all excited - but when I looked at the source code on the page I noticed that there was no " onload" command for the top nav menu. At least not on the offending page.

I' m guessing that this is because it is coming to the page as an " Include" page. So there is only one onload command for the page that won' t work. At least I think so. If I' m missing something please let me know.

Thanks Again,

joe

Resolution

Someone figured this one out and I thought I' d post the resolution here just in case someone else might need to know the answer.

Here goes:

Take out the onload part of the body tag.

Put this BELOW the code for the slideshow image.

<script language=" JavaScript" type=" text/JavaScript" >
<!--
runSlideShow();
// -->
</script>

It' s a walkaround, but it works.

Thanks,

Joe

Hi Linda,

I think that' s where Andy' s link eventually led. The only thing I don' t understand about it is --- since the menu only comes over as an " Include" page it is without the " onload" commands. So there is only one onload command in the code and that is for the slideshow.

Correct me if I' m wrong, cuz I don' t know squat about this stuff.
