New Site Evaluations, Please - 3/20/2003 10:35:51
Out Fronters -

I have placed the basic design of my new site on-line and was hoping I could get some specific suggestions on how to improve. I' m fine with " pickyness" , so tear it up if you feel it' s that bad. I also would like usability comments. Most of the folks I deal with are not very computer literate.

I haven' t worked on the wording yet, so if it' s terrible just give leave me a basic note. I' m taking it to a freind/technical writer in a few days.

All opinions/ideas big and small are welcome and encouraged.
Thanks,
michael

Welcome to Outfront Michael,

Just a few quick notes that jumped out at me.

1. I get a small horizontal scrollbar viewing at 800x600

2. I noticed that there isn' t a link to the " Home Page" within the navigational structure

I think the layout is great.

But, personally, i think the visual part of a site is just as important as the content.Such as, livlier buttons, or hover effects.

Also, color is very important, depending on the type of site your doing. I see you offer website design. I would be more apt to inquire about your services if the site looked a little more professional.

I hope I' m not being rude. If you would like some help with the visual part, i' d be glad to help.

A few things I noticed as I went through your site:

The spelling and wording. (I am really picky about that sort of stuff...sorry:))

I agree with Pianobub, the layout is nice.

There is too much white space...maybe some pictures or animations?? Just a suggestion.

I get a vertical scrollbar on every page, and all that is at the bottom is the Copyright Information?

I agree with Swoosh - I couldn' t find a link back to your Home Page, until I clicked on the Proclaim logo in the top left corner!

But apart from my being picky... I like it!:)

Hi Michael,
Take a look at your table width of 776. As mentioned, at 800 X 600, it results in a horizontal scroll bar. At higher resolutions, it results in a lot of empty space on the sides. Have you considered a percentage?

You may want to consider a darker font color on the links, they tend to blend in with the page.

FYI - This is what is at the bottom of the page.

" Copright Information here. "

It should be Copyright.:)

Hey! Thank you all very much for the constructive criticism. I really appreciate it. As soon as work breaks for a few days I' m going to get to work on the things that were mentioned.

Thanks again.
