how to use regular bullets in theme - 3/24/2003 18:58:23
Hi all - first post here wish me luck I use a slightly modified romanesque theme for my site and all that works fine. I also send out a newsletter using the same theme but I have trouble using the graphics bullets when I send the newsletter. Therefore I want to use regular bullets in the newsletter (some mail scanning programs don' t like the graphics bullets i think) I can' t see a way to modify the theme to allow regular bullets. I am using FP2000 and send the newsletter using gammadyne mailer. I think my only alternative is to drop the theme for the newsletter. website works fine www.louernconsulting.com Let me know if you need more information Thanks for your help Brad

It' s not possible to specify the theme to use plain text bullets. Simply don' t use the bullet list.... instead, increase the indent and use • Linda

Off the top of my head the reason your bullets aren' t working could be that the ' url' reference is relative/this stays relative with the way you send your newsletter.... So having said that how are you sending your newsletter?

Gidday Jay, I use Gammadyne Mailer to send out the newsletter. Previously I have embedded images inside the html but I think some of the newer spam software rejects messages like this. My newsletter is opt-in and I find that any that rejected emails can be resolved by removing the image and re-sending the email. Being a lazy guy I just decided to not send any images in the first place. A few of my subscribers have their email set to receive plain text only so the first line of each newsletter is the correct kind of reference to the copy of the newsletter that is " live" on the website. I also post a word document version of the main part of the newsletter, as some subscribers like to print out that part and stick it up in thier office. Now each time I upload the " changed" pages to the website i.e. index.htm the new newsletter, the link to the newsletter in the archive page etc, frontpage decides all of the word documents have changed and uploads them all again. There are now about 15 word docs so it does take time! Any idea ow to not have this happen? Sorry to add the question like this - I will add it as a new thread if there is no answer due to its lack of visibility.

You can click on DON' T PUBLISH for each of those files that you do not want published...and FP doesnt DECIDE for no reason...these file meet the criteria that have been set for publishing files....

Thanks Jay, That worked to stop the word docs being uploaded everytime. For those that are reading this thread finding where to specify for the files not to be published took a few minutes and wasn' t really that logical under FP2000 I right cliked on the word doc under folder list clicked properties went to the workgroup tab and checked the box for " exclude this file when publishing the rest of the web" There may well be another way but that worked for me. Cheers Brad
