I know this must be very simple. I have a picture that I want to hyperlink to a .wma file, so that when the visitor clicks the picture, the file starts playing.

I have right-clicked the picture, chosen Hyperlink Properties, clicked the file with the magnifying glass, browsed to the .wma file and chosen it. Then I uploaded the page, but when I click on the picture, it comes up saying " The Page Cannot Be Displayed."

Please help! Thank you!

Perhaps it' s not that simple. Using the <embed> tag is simple. That will play the tune in the background once or forever. I haven' t been able to figure out how to link it to a picture. Maybe you can' t. I also don' t know how to turn it off. Maybe you can' t. (Not much help, am I?) Hopefully one of the experts here can say more about the embed tag.

Anyway, there are several javascripts out there, such as the JavaScript Sound Kit at codebrain. You can check it out. It seems to me that javascript will likely be the way you have to go. Javascript can easily detect the browser and load the appropriate tag for playing. I suspect that the only way to turn off the music will be to have another javascript button that sets the code to a null value.

Until one of the guru' s here can help, maybe the link above will be useful.

Thanks for your reply...

Maybe something simpler then...

How can I simply get a .wma file on my site to play. I really don' t care what they click on to hear it, just so long as it works.

Thanks again.
