Upload Question - 8/26/2001 20:17:00
Hi,

I have a few sites with upload components where a user can upload a picture that is then displayed with info they enter into a database. The way i do this is i have a form that posts to a database with say 10 fields. One of the fields is called "Logo" (for the logo they can upload). I am using ASP Smart Upload.

Now the way i have it right now is....Right above the "Logo" field is a link that says "click here to upload logo". They click that and a new window opens with the upload form. THey then find the picture and upload it and get confirmation to close window. THEN, they have to enter the filename of the picture they chose into the "Logo" field back on the form. My listing page uses this link as the Image Source. Is there any way to get around them having to both choose the pic when uploading AND remember the filename to enter into the field in the form? If anyone has suggestions OR simply a better way of doing what i am doing please feel free to share.

Thanks in advance.
John

Hi John,
can you not choose the filename you save by for them? That way also you get around the possibility of duplicate filenames. This is what I normally do in this situation.

How would i go about doing this? Do you mean choose the name the picture is saved as? Then how would i get THAT value into the form?

From memory, there should be some component commands you can use to submit ALL the detail at the same time? I havent used that one for some time
