Charging for Advertising - 4/4/2003 11:10:12
Ok all, Here I go with another very broad question again. [:j] What are some ballpark rates for charging to place an advertising banner on a site? In other words, I have a client with website for a racing organization. Their organization is starting to gain popularity, and they want to use the website as the " focal" point of communications. The board of directors has expressed interest in selling advertising on their website and wants to know how much they can charge. They are also about to spend some money (hopefully) to have their site upgraded and advertising is part of their plan. I instructed them to research some of the drag racing websites and see what the rates are. As a reference, this site (http://www.nitronic.com) charges $1000/year for a their " Nitro Package" . Now I know that advertising varies from site to site and that popularity, traffic, and lots of other things come into play. In light of that, does anyone want to post some thoughts?

Good question. I joined several affiliate programs that are close to the advertisers I was interested in and watched their results, as far as # of sales, click-throughs, impressions, etc. and then based pricing on that... that way I knew what kind of response I had and o suprises. Does that help?
