RE: page download time caused by photo? - 4/25/2001 23:13:00
I agree with Gene - make the file smaller, but let me give you a brief explanation first, so you'll know where to start.A picture on a web site has both a file size, and what can be referred to as the 'display' size. The 157k you refer to is of course the file size. As I look at your page, the display size is 220x254 pixels. But in checking further, the actual pixel size of the photo is 1112x1284. This means that the display size has been altered (through the use of the width and height attributes of the image within the HTML source to make it appear smaller, but this has not changed the actual file size. It is quite possible this was done through dragging the image smaller in FP, without resampling the image which changes the actual file size. You can change both (file size and display size) within FP, but it doesn't usually produce a good quality image. Your picture should be opened in a graphics program and the actual size reduced - both display and file size. If you are using a stand alone version of FP, Image Composer came with the program (2nd disk for FP2K, not sure about FP98) and can be used for this purpose. Hope this helps.
