PNG help - 4/23/2003 17:56:55
I can save graphics as PNG but cannot put them into documents (publisher, word, etc). I do not have the discs to install it... anyone know a way around this?

Sounds like you' re going to need to save them as something else to work in Word or Publisher.

Fireworks is the only program I know that will save PNG images in an editable format, retaining the layers etc. Other programs will save them with a .png extension, but they are flattened images (no layers) and in that case gifs will usually work just as well.

Is there a specific reason you are wanting to have them as PNG images?

They are for product inserts and brochures. When I save them as a gif, they look VERY grainy and everything has to be at least 300 dpi for the printer they are going to. The PNG keeps the transparencies and looks nice... just can' t get them in the documents!! AHHHH

Maybe I' m not understanding this whole picture. *S* What disks don' t you have?

I had never tried before now, but I was just able to insert a .png image into a word document. What version of Word are you using? I think mine is Word 2000. I think I just have a standard install, and inserting a .png doesn' t seem to be a feature I need to install from the disk.

I get an error that I need to install the option from the MS Office Disk (which I no longer have).
