I' m color blind - HELP! - 4/23/2003 21:26:22
Hi Friends :)
I' ve constructed my first website and need people to give some feedback, especially on the colors. I' m not completely sure about the layout, except that I' ve left spaces on the sides for some adverts, pics or affil. progs. - rather than having to adjust and swap everything around later!
Also need an idea on loading time.

Any help is very appreciated!
thanks in advance
Wayne

Hi Wayne,
Based on http://www.thebandwidthplace.com/ I' m currently running at 24 kbps on my dial-up. Your page loaded in 25 seconds, which is about normal for me.

(1) Have you considered breaking-up the size of the page? It was a long scroll for me.

(2) Some of your fonts and images are hard to read. I normally right-click and post the image with comments. Since right-click is blocked, I can' t help there, but problems do exist as to colors and images. Were it not so late, I' d post them.

Hi, dialup connected at 45.3, it took about 10 seconds for the initial image of the girl exercising to load then the rest of the page followed in around 7 seconds.

Perhaps the site map details on your initial page could be moved to a page of its own? This would cut down on the scrolling required and make your index page a bit clearer.

I really like the colours used in some places but am not sure about the overall feel of the site - but can not really put my finger on why. It could be that there are quite a few different colours in action along with different fonts....will need to look more and think about it.

On your nutrition page #66FFFF works well with the blue so maybe this could be carried through to other pages somehow. The yellow on your navigation is also effective so that could also be used elsewhere perhaps.

I played around with your index page, changed the background colour of the cell containing the text " " losing weight can be a stressful journey, one with many hills and plenty of terrain......! " to #0080FF and the text to white and bold. This seemed to fit in better than the pink text, but that is only my opinion and I was hurrying, I' m sure others have better suggestions and of course there is nothing wrong with what you had initially :)

One thing I noticed was the mix of photographs (some really great ones are in use!) and clipart. Clipart does have it' s place but I think on a site like this I' d like to see all photographs. Same with the fonts, I think it would be better to pick a font and stick with that most of the time rather than have several.

You are off to a great start and there is excellent info on this site. I' m looking forward to getting back and reading more.

I see john40004 must type faster than me [:p]

With my normal connection speed, it takes a few days just to get it posted! [:p]

LOL! I feel your pain :) Up until 6 months ago we did not get much beyond 12.9 and that was dicey. Even now I' m not used to having such a ' fast' connection and tend to wander away from the computer rather than wait for something to load. If I actually sat here I could save about 2 hours a day :)
