On-going shopping cart battle! - 9/18/2001 13:46:00
I am getting closer and closer to my goal everyday.
The goal of not buying a shopping cart system is coming true....almost.
The one thing I am getting stuck on is adding more items. I think using the UPDATE statement will work but I havent worked out all the bugs yet.

I am slowly doing this but I willl be successful.
Thanks for all the help so far!

lwpunk,

Spooky

This is what I have done...

1.Page with Inventory and checkboxes(ID) for checking off what you want to order.

2.Witch is then sent to Select from ID where IN(::ID: and gives the full line of data.

3.Then I send it to the order. Using the INSERT SQL. Use hidden fields for info.

4.Then at the order page I am using Session(Username) to sort between users.

No update querys have been tried yet...

Any suggestions?

When I mean theory, I sorta mean the logic of using an "update" statement.

This infers you are updating an existing record.
To do that, you will need a lot of error checking, assuming its the same user, to see what they have ordered and whats changed.

I think you still go back to adding a new record for each sale/order?

Well,
You know more then I do when it comes to this sorta thing spooky.
But I felt a sense of "you dont think I can do it" coming from your last reply. But I will.
Everything is working accept when I query with the checkbox to get the ID of the record and the go back to get more records the checkboxes that have already been checked reset.

Is there anyway I can keep the information that has already been checked and still be able to add new recods?
check it out...

You can always do it! (Its just a matter of time

This part is definitely where I would save 1 record per line, and place the quantity with the individual product. Its the only way really.

Youd need to open your "new" record sql, and execute(sql) for each record, looping until all records are added.

Hey,
Spooky, thanks for the reply.

I was wondering if you could explain this "looping" that you mentioned in the last reply. Is there an example somewhere or a tutorial I could look at?

Thanks,
lwpunk

I just download a program called Webclerk. Has anyone ever heard of this or used this.

Apparently you can import your data and customize a shopping cart.
I tried using it and cant seem to figure out how to import my data.
?

Its all over...

I gave up on building my own cart.
I found a free one I can use that has even more features and it works just fine...

Accept for my Global.asa. I was using Spooky login lite and now that I have that shopping cart in it gives me an error when tring to log in. It must have something to do with my global.asa

Any suggestions?
