Rhino1616 -> Website listing/indexing/submission recommendations? (5/5/2003 17:50:44)

Good Afternoon,

I just finished a website I made in Frames using FP2000, being a rookie I dont know of any good companies that can take care of website submission/indexing/listing..etc, unfortunately I dont know too much about this kinda stuff. Can anyone recommend a company that would do a good job.

Thanks

Take a look at http://www.seoconsultants.com/

There are loads of them there.

My guess is though that the first thing any of them would advise is removing the frames.

Hey Katherine, thanks for the referral!

Actually, there is very little submission to be done these days. The industry is almost all pay to play. There are only two free resources left that are of any value; ODP (Open Directory Project/DMOZ) and Google.

With Google, all it takes is a link from a site already in the Google index. Googlebot (the Google spider) will find your site from that link and you will most likely find yourself in the Google index within 45-60 days depending on the update cycle and the quality of the inbound links (PageRank).

The Open Directory Project (ODP) is a directory that is still free for businesses. You must find the appropriate category to submit your site to and then make sure that you follow their submission guidelines to the " t" .

The rest of the search engines offer a PFI (Pay for Inclusion) service that puts your submitted URLs into their index within 2 days to one week depending on the program. Some do have a free submission page, but, don' t expect to see a listing real quick. If you are lucky, you may get a free listing.

Keep in mind that all PFI programs still require that your site be optimized. They do not guarantee search engine positions. All they guarantee is that you will be included in their index within a certain time period and then their spider will index those pages every 48-72 hours or weekly depending on the program.
