Automating Sizes of Pictures - 5/6/2003 1:11:39
Is there anyway in corel paint 8, 9, or 10 or Photoshop 7 or any other program that might work that you can take your jpgs and gifs and make them a uniform size and keep their aspect ratio I have a 1000 photos of varying sizes and I want them all to be no more than 200 x 100 pixels max. It doesnt matter about hieght as much as width. Uniformity is what I am looking for. Any help would be appreciated. Jack

Look for a batch conversion. I did this recently in irfanview (850kb freeware). Should have it somewhere in Photoshop. The button for resizing, quality & sharpness are usually encompassed in the " advanced users" button. If all else fails download irfanview, open it & browse for your folder of images, pick a few out to practice on and save to another folder. It will take a few shots to get the crispness & final kb size OK.

Here' s how I do it in Photoshop, though there probably is a better way. File > Automate > Web Photo Gallery In the Options area, select Large Images and set the dimensions to resize youir images. There are a few other useful settings in there, too, for this purpose. After Photoshop does its thing, I go to the Images folder that was created during the process to get my resized images. There is also a batch conversion feature in the Automate menu. I' ve never used it. gail

In addition, photoshop has the ability to create your own action scripts to record actions for things you frequently do. I think Gail' s approach is easier for your task but actions is a pretty powerful feature of Photoshop. As I recall, you can do something similar in paint 10, but I haven' t fooled with it at all.

The easiest possible way is downling Power Toys image resizer from www.microsoft.com. It' s just a simple right click and " resize image" . You can do as many images at the same time, it takes literally seconds.
