Consulting Fee - 5/8/2003 14:09:43
I have been asked by a company, who is developing a site, how much I would charge for consultations. The owner, of the small company, son is going to start working on a web site. The son has no experience with FP, but wants to try to create a site. The scenario would be that he would call me for suggestions or problems. I would possibly have access to the site incase there was a problem I could not walk him through over the phone. Has any one done this before? If so, could you tell what you would or did charge. Feel free to email me if you do not want to disclose that info publicly.

Hi, I have, in the past, worked on an hourly wage. I asked to work off of 10 hour increments with the client. When they hit hour 8 I notified and sent over a time sheet of sorts to show where/what/when/how the hours were used. The hourly fee, I believe, would depend on what type of support you would provide. I have charged from $25.00 to $150.00 an hour. The high end was charged based on the hours I quoted for the project, also that I demonstrated that I could save them hours VS. another developer charging a lower rate but it was quoted with a higher amount of hours. Again though the rate is relative to what the persons market would bear and the type of work you are doing. Brian
