Weisscrow -> toss me some clues, please (5/10/2003 1:55:57)

http://www.sevenbros.com

i have had my site up for a few months, it is spinning on the middle finger now... getting orders and looking better than your typical kittens litter box... but here is the but...

i know i am missing stuff, even obvious stuff... being a bit newbonic, i don' t know even the most common rules of the road... and perhaps you guys could help me a bit.

i have famous ideas for better graphics but have trouble getting it all done and fail to understand a few details...layout, spacing and width are my demons; style sheet it seems my nemesis.

please, those who are willing, grab your chisels and axes and hammer on my site....

tell me what you think, all advice and comment taken with smiles... just don' t make me cry to dehydration to be carried away together with the ever present bovine dander in this ferverant west texas wind.

Hi Weisscrow,
I checked your site out with IE 6 at 1024 x 768 on a cable connection. Everything seems to load pretty well though there was slight lag when viewing specific item sections/items. Nothing overly drastic for me but those with slow connections might not wait around. I did note a few other little things:
quote:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC " -//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN" >

??? I ran your home page through an HTML validator and it returned 100 errors and had more that went unreported (it maxed out). Granted the majority were for not providing Alt text on your clear.gif but...[:j]
Now for some other nit picky stuff:
Your banner is a different width for the " About 7B' s" , " Privacy Policy" , " Security" and " Contact Us" pages than it is for the " Home" page and other main pages. The page width in general seemed sporadic with some pages rendering fine and others wide enough to cause side to side scrolling (see your leather jackets[;)]). Checkout had side to side scroll too.
On your " Contact Us" page you have an email address to " questions@justintimewholesale" which kind of confused me especially when I went to your " Terms and Policies" page and the email for Questions was " questions@sevenbros" . Who am I doing business with?

That should be enough to keep you busy for a day or two.[;)][8D]

You' ve got a good start and as you say it' s " getting orders and looking better than your typical kittens litter box" .

Check out the tutorials area of Outfront. There' s a lot of good info there.

Thank you for taking the time to spin around in my site, i fixed a few things already..

Could it be that the html validator is catching much of the ASP.NET code and treating it as bad syntax.... that is what i ascertained.

The alignment is messed up on the homepage and the about page and some others. Other than that, looks good. The only thing I would recommend is maybe doing something with the homepage. It really shouldn' t be just another product page. Although you definently want products visable and up-front on the home page, you should really add some more content, maybe a quick explanation of the company, or sales pitches, etc.. etc.. But good stuff.
