Search form - Drop down menu - 5/10/2003 12:26:04
Hello,

I have created a search form using the DRW. What I currently have in my search form are text form fields. An example of what is contained in one of the search form fields is:

<%=Request(" Location" )%>

I however want to give my users specific options to choose from when searching the Database.

The question to you great people is " How can I replace this text form field with a drop down field containing the options?

Regards
Andrew

This beginner question has more of an advanced solution....

If this is what you would like then i could help you out, and that is:
would it ruin the format and integrity if you placed a drop box beside the text box and set the drop box to transpose the selected options into the text box? I think I gave a the solution to this in the community tips section some ~5 months back. I think, if i remember correctly, i tried mixing hand coded open db and sql script with the DRW and things got kinda funky and i had to make a special include file and the mess grew, and the above what i mentioned was an easy way out,

let us know

J-man,

Thanks for getting back. This is all new to me. Your assistance will therefore be highly appreciated. All I want to achieve is a drop down form field that will allow users to query the Database by using the options provided in the form field.

Regards
Andrew

are the options provided in drop down coming from the database, or are you manually entering the drop options?
