Newbie' s First DB Project - 5/16/2003 23:45:04
Other than a couple of StoreFront webs, that is.

Here' s what I' m charged with: Client will have downloadable products; approximately 100 pharmaceutical company order packs. Ultimate ordering will be via StoreFront and that product db will be built according to StoreFront protocols. The tricky part is I need to be able to offer a search function whereby the visitor searches not for the drug company, but by the drug itself and have the results point to the manufacturer of the drug.

My understanding of the StoreFront db is that it must be set up using the StoreBuilder component of that product. Fine for the 100 drug companies (which will essentially be the product) but rather daunting for the 1500+ drugs we need to be able to search through. You see, there will not be a downloadable product associate with each drug, just with each company. Using a seperate db from the SF one is fine, just so long as I can generate a results page offering a link to the correct downloadable product.

For now I' ll leave it at that so that I don' t confuse the issue any further! I' m looking some serious help getting started here. I can make use of either FrontPage 2002 or Dreamweaver MX (or both!) with an Access db.

Looking forward to some serious learning here!
