Micah,

You might be able to do it yourself. Check out these article & see if they can help you out:
http://www.sitepoint.com/article/945
http://websearch.about.com/library/weekly/bl-seo101-buildf.htm

Prices can vary on this kind of work.

Hi,

Why not also post here? Do some base reading and when ready just post your questions and see what responses you get.

I agree with Erin though teach yourself and save the money. If you need any help off board just PM me, I' ll see if I can give you anything usefull.

Another good resource for SEO is www.webmasterworld.com .

And if you have been following webmasterworld and the latest Google update, you will see that sometimes it doesnt matter how good you are at SEO, sometimes the google gods throw a curved ball at you.
Like this month. Some people at #1 posn are now at #40 and so on......

Could your $ be better spent on google adwords while you tinker with the site yourself?? (I would take this approach in the interim)

Just remember it will take months for your tinkering to propagate through the search results, no matter who or what you choose.

i think i' m going to be better waiting and working rather than shell out a small fortune for adwords. I' ve done the maths and with a site like mine I' m looking at around £1000 ($1600) per day because the CPC is so high.

Ahhhhhhh yes , that other factor.....CPC & $$$$

Could you in the interim try adwords with those " outer perimeter" keywords that are cost effective? ie start off small and test the water.
You can set the maximum daily $balance to expend.

Use the option for exact match so the impressions are lower but hopefully the ctr VS. impressions wont get it kicked out. Also negative keywords help a lot also on getting more targeted views/impressions.

Also what about pay for inclusion? At $49.00 US it really is a good roi IMHO, can' t hurt. However I would optimize my pages and content first before going down this road.
