Here are some very good CSS tools for windows all of them are free:

Style Assistant:

This is extremely good software. It is very easy to use and it gives a good preview of what you have done. You select everything by using dropdown lists:

You can get it from here (yet it is in English so do not worry that it is a German site [:)]

http://www.styleassistant.de/

Balthisar Cascade:

This is a little bit less friendly in its interface but still very easy to use. The help file gives very information on CSS in general.

Go here and navigate to the downloads section:

http://www.balthisar.com/

For positioning you can go to

http://www.westciv.com/layout_master/index.html

It is NOT gratis but you can get a evaluating copi for 30 days.

I am trying it now - I have very mixed feelings about it but that is because I have not really learnt it properly yet.

They have different deals for if you buy I myself would not buy stylemaster as I think that style assistant and balthisar do a very good job gratis. I like it when there is good quality software and it is gratisware. But perhaps the deal where you can also get their very godo guide is tempting?

If anyone else knows of good free CSS software for Windows especially for positioning maybe you could put a link?

Enjoy - it is a little difficult at first, but soon you can " toss out your tables" for layout. You will be amazed at how fast pages done with CSS load.

Above all - enjoy!

I' ve been using the Style Master 3.0 demo from Western Civ. It' s easy to use and really helped boost my understanding of how CSS works. I' m actually thinking of buying the full version!

I purchased the stylemaster along with their course package.

These people are terrific to work with! Any problems and they are right there within the same day with an email to answer any questions. I highly recomend their courses as well as the stylemaster. btw, this is also mentioned on the w3c site in the css online resources area of the page so I figured that they had to be good.

I purchased the bundle of learning courses from html-css-web color along with their manual.

only real way to learn CSSS SSS is to code it by hand

Donkey -> RE: Here are some very good CSS tools for windows all of them are free (8/6/2003 6:01:37)

Excuse my ignorance but what is CSSS SSS? A typo?

Boo:

Have you looked at the stylemaster?

you have the option of hand coding in there.

I totally agree learning any code is hand coding.

However, this is a great little tool, and I thrilled to conisder myself an owner of it, along with the courses that I purchased with it.

Donkey, I would suggest that you look at his courses as well. He runs one for free on his site but you have to catch it from the begining. You could look over the one that is runing and decide if it is worth it for yourself.[;)]

No it' s boo' s idea of a joke, somewhat uninformative quasi haikus especially when aimed at newbies seem be another speciality. Personally I' ve never understood such " humour" but then I have the old fashioned idea that the basis of fora such as this is that when people ask for help politely then they should recieve it.

In this case however I have to agree with boo that learning css by " hand coding*" is the best way to go. Thereafter use any tools you want, you may well increase your productivity, and will know how to do any tweaking required.

I totally agree with you on this one Thor. This is why I struggle with teaching this to myself. I know I could totally go with fp, but then if I do have problems, would I know how to fix them? NOPE.

Only thing is, more I see, the more I realize I have sooooooooooo much to teach myself. I get totally frustrated, but keep on fighting to learn it.[;)]
