Advice on transferring FP ext. files to another host - 5/22/2003 8:12:30
Hi,

I wish to transfer all files (including FP extension files) from one host to another before transfer of the domain name.

I cannot do this using FP extensions (I tried it)

If I use FTP to upload will it grab the extension files also?

FP extensions will be used by the client once site is uploaded.

Thank you,
Herman

Extensions are not something you transfer - they will either be on the new server or not, it is a matter for the host.

The easiest way to do this is to open the site from its current location and publish it back to your HD, then publish it from there to the new server.

if there are non-FP things to be moved, such as CGI or PHP scripts, these should be moved using FTP, and will need some editing as paths etc are likely to be different.

How do I publish to the hard drive?

Thanks,
Herman

Open the site live and do File>Publish Web

To open it live either:

1. Go to the site in IE and then select File>Edit with Microsoft FrontPage,

or

2. Open FP, do File>Open Web and in the folders box enter the full URL (including the HTTP) to the site.
