Lost FP 2002 somehow! - 5/28/2003 11:13:01
Okay, don' t know how I did this. I had BOTH FP 2000 and 2002. Was using 2002 for my site, liked it better.

Now it' s GONE. When I click on the icon, FP 2000 comes up. Silly me, I was " cleaning" my computer and probably messed it up somehow, but don' t know how to get it BACK.

Any particular file name or extension to search for so I can know for sure if it' s still on my computer to begin with?

If it' s not, any way of getting it short of buying it again????

:)

Better read the EULA first!

End User License Agreement - or to put it another way the contract between you and Microsoft. If you read it you will find that it has some very tightly drafted clauses in which distributing the software is forbidden.

Well, hopefully I' ll have it on one of my backup disks. Got it from work (I telecommute) and now they can' t find it at the office. Sigh.

Thanks anyway! Wasn' t sure if there was a way to tell if I had all or part of it still here by looking for a specific file name.

Hi Diana,

Check in your \program files\Microsoft Office\ folder and see if you have an " Office10" folder. If so open it an see if there is a Frontpg.exe in there. Perhaps you just deleted the shortcut. If it' s there double click on it and see if FP 2002 opens.

Just a thought...

Yes, I have that, and FP opens partially but then wants the installation disk. It said something about wanting the fp.msi file so it can install it... did a search and evidently don' t have that.

So guess I' m out of luck.

Thanks anyway!

If you company does own a copy but have lost the CD call MS. If they registered they will go through some checks and then help you out.

Happened to me once. My, then young daughter, decided to " play" with my install CD. Scratched it soooo badly it was useless. MS had me, in this case, fax over a xerox of the cd. They replaced it. I paid for shipping.

Tell that to Microsoft, The Federation Against Software Piracy, Various courts in various jurisdictions - American, British, European, and elsewhere. You might also like to tell the people who have been successfully prosecuted for selling or passing on Microsoft software in ways that are in breach of that agreement. That it isn' t legally binding and that they can launch an appeal.
