A little over my head I think?? - 6/16/2003 7:50:47
Hi All,

I have accepted a job for a friend who is an importer off hundreds of different products within various catergories.

The breif is to build a site where a dealer (pre approved) can log on and order individual products within the many catergories,
once the dealer has placed his order it will be emailed back to the client where the order can be carried out with.

There is no need for credit card payment as the dealers are preapproved and pay on invoice, however they will need to supply an order number when they make the order.

I am new to something this size and my knowledge is limited however I am willing to teach myself. I have made quite a few basic sites but nothing this big, the site will need to be easily maintained and updated when stock is not available or discontinued.

Can you please point me in the right direction as to what would be the best way to approach this site and are there any applications out there which can help.

Many Thanks
ShayneNZ

Hi,

Well it all depends on the budget I would think.

If lite funds I would think OS Commerce would fit the bill nicley...

http://www.oscommerce.com/

It' s free, open source so plenty of support. I have never used it as I have always used StoreFront but I have reviewed it and it seems pretty solid and feature rich.

Brian
