barry -> PPC an listings (6/17/2003 9:25:29)

Hi All,

I have a client that only used Overture ppc. With-in a realtively short time, her site is picking up business from lots of different engines.

I/she never submitted the site to others. But has been in the top 3 listings for over 60 days.

So, does having your site listed high on Overture (any ppc), help, enhance, encourage, etc orther spiders/index/search engines to pick it up?

Thanks,
Barry

It' s a link - or links. Links will get sites picked up.

Hi Barry,

My thoughts were that Oveture is in use by several SEs. Showing in the top three makes since as most SEs that use that service only pull the top three slots from Oveture for the search.

To test this go to one of the SEs that show in your log files. Also determine the keyword phrase that they came in on or just use what you use in your Oveture campaign. Now do a search on that SE for that phrase. Notate the position/listing in the SERP. Now pause your campaign on Oveture. Wait a little and do the exact same search. I am pretty sure your site in question will not show up.

Brian

Hi Brian,

I understand how Overture works, sorry that I was not clear.

But the question I had was more does other non ppc engines index Overtures top 3 faster or quicker then the basic spiders.

In other words does the second teir engines just grab a certain amount of Overtures top 5 and thats their top 5 until the next index run,

Thanks,
Barry

Hi Barry,

Man, sorry was off base on that one [8|].

I have not heard of other SEs using the top listings from OT that way but maybe someone else here has.

Overture PPC listings do not get indexed by other SEs. Those PPC listings are only available to their partners.

I haven' t updated this page since April 2003, but I think most of it stands true today. This is a listing of the current Overture partners...
