Hey guys, I' ve got a potential client that just needs some search engine optimization done. I' m wondering what you guys would charge for search engine optimization. Also, looking at this guys website he really needs a lot done to it. So I told him I' d give him a quote for a fully functional ecommerce website. I' ve done a couple in the past and it' s not that big of a deal. But how much would you charge someone for an ecommerce website?? Thanks guys

All depends.

Are the pages dynamic?

I have gotten dynamic cart pages optimized, happening right now for me. I started with the products ID first. I made sure it utilized the keyword for that product and then added an item number after it. I then made the <title> and META keywords populate via the fields in the item entered in the DB. another one I do is in the products long description I throw out:

<!--One sentence highly optimized--> prior to the long descriptions beginning.

That' s really the only difference I did over the static non product pages and it seems to have worked out well.

As far as fees. I have only done cart optimization for myself. I guess the fee was pretty high [:)]. Long hours and no direct pay, only sales.

Hmm... well if I created a site for him, it would be dynamic. But if we were to do search engine optimization, then probably not. If you could give me how much you do charge, so at least I could get a ballpark of what' s normal and go from there I would appreciate it.

Hi,

Don' t shun dynamic pages. Google is now even indexing .asp?id=x type pages. There are also server side utilities that will take a dynamic map of that nature and turn it into .htm or .asp with no variables.

On fees, I think the best thing to do is visit some SEO optimization sites and get a feel for what is being charged.

You will find lots of them here: http://www.seoconsultants.com/ and I am sure many have prices on their sites.

Bear in mind though - that directory is fussy about who they let in so all of those listed are likely to be pretty experienced and that experience will naturally be reflected in the prices they charge.

I read a Wall Street Journal article the other day concerning web site marketing and they mentioned search engine optimization quite a bit. They interviewed a company (forgive me as I don' t remember their name) who specializes in search engine optimization. That particular company said they charge a MINIMUM of $2,000.00 for the service.

They have the article posted on their (Wall Street Journal' s), but you have to have a membership to access it online.
