If you are just starting as a Paint Shop Pro user, I don' t see why starting with v.7 should be any problem. As I understand it, there are quite a few new features in v.8, but at the current time you should be able to pick up v.7 for a good price - which is always a very nice feature in itself. *S* I do have v.8, but have not used it enough so far to really feel like I know my way around. I' ve done some lurking at another forum where several members are quite impressed with v.8 but they are also people who have used PSP for a long time, so they are biased to begin with. One thing I' ve always liked about PSP is that when you purchase it as an upgrade you actually get a full standalone program. So if you do go ahead and purchase v.7 for now, you should be able to get v.8 for about half price when you are ready. Also if you get a boxed version (not a download) it comes with a very nice detailed book. Hope this helps. Nancy

Personally I think $83 would be far too much to pay for v.7, considering you can buy v.8 from Jasc as the boxed edition for $109. And I see Amazon has v.8 for $86 with a $30 rebate if you currently own a qualified product - it doesn' t list what those are- making the final cost only $56 Yes, I would agree that Jasc probably no longer has it on their site with the release of the new version. Shop around a bit, and if you' re within your price range for the v.8, I would go for it instead. Nancy

There are forums on the Jasc site where you might be able to get some more info.... I have PSP 7 now and am going to get the boxed Version 8 in the next week or two. I LOVE PSP. You could download a free trial of version 8 to see if you like it....it' s a full version that works for 30 days. The " qualified" products for the rebate are Adobe Photo shop and the like...it has to be a product from a competitor. Which I think is dumb.
