Creating ' tabs' on Website pages - 7/9/2003 17:09:55
I' d like to create ' tabs' on my Website pages like the grey ones at the top of this page (though not necessarily with the little dropdown menus).

I know I can do it using small image files & slowly building up the page, but I just wondered if there is a way to do it via a customizable script. Any ideas?

Thanks,

John.

You can do it with scripting... depends on what you had in mind... I don' t know that it would be easier tho :)

Images are the way to go, unless you want straight boxes for the tabs... then you might get away with using a table and playing with bg colors and borders.

Even with scripting, you' re probably gonna end up using images for the tabs.

You can use repeating images for the tab " borders" and just use bg color in table cells and text links in the middle... if that makes sense...

You could use a script to loop through any number of dynamic links to pop into the tabs that way...

An interesting CSS alternative is the one Pageoneresults posted here :

Thanks, guys.

bobby, you' ve confirmed what I hoped - I' m happy working with images, so I' ll follow that route.

Spooky, Thanks for the link. I' ll certainly look into the CSS alternative too as a learning process. I have looked into it re another of my sites, but I need more ' practice' ...

Yours,

John.

Brian,

That is really cool - exactly what I was looking for. I' ve actually started creating the images & building my site step by step, but this template will be a great help for me to analyse for guidance, and also to help if I get stuck.

Many thanks,

John.
