Please take a look - 7/16/2003 13:38:59
Some Outfronters were kind enough to provide input when I first started designing this site for an aspiring model. I know it needs tweaking but, for the most part, the site is complete. I would appreciate any feedback you care to provide. http://www.alexandrablakely.com as always, thanks. gail IMPORTANT! Please read prior to viewing the site: - at this time, the site [previously] contain[ed] one artistic photograph containing nudity. - some of you may recall there was a young lady with the username Alexandra who caused problems at Outfront. I believe she was banned from further participation in these forums. This is NOT the same Alexandra.

Navigation moving on bottom is not that bad. The main problem is the Portolio link but I think I just about, though not quite, fixed it. At least I think it' s better than it has been. Any other suggestions would be appreciated! thanks, gail

Gail - beautiful! I guess it' s my 56 year old eyes - but it took me a few minutes of squinting to see there were links - I would like a little more contrast...

gail Sorry I' m late on this one. Beautiful site. The best part is that you certainly know your business. The model is definitely the star of the site, and everything is built around promoting her, yet with a very subtle touch. Not too much of a problem with the nav, ' cause (as stated before) my attention was drawn elsewhere. .. .. .. Ok, I admit it. My attention was COMMANDED elsewhere. So, admitting my appreciation for a beautiful woman, your site is a beautiful frame work for her, and leads a viewer to want to learn more. Good job on limiting the original artwork. The images are taking space, so you didn' t clutter up the page or the page size with nav buttons. Plus the simple elegance of text links is great. .. .. .. MAN! What a pretty girl! (Sorry gail, that was the last one, I' m just a healthy young man)

Thank you all for your kind words; I have a beautiful subject to work with so it makes the job easy. I have a few more, and related, questions about the links. I create for 800 X 600 (though I test at higher resolutions). The site displays fine for me but I know others may use more toolbars than I do (two) at the top of their browsers. If they use a free browser which includes ads, such as Opera, more real estate is taken up which pushes the bottom links slightly out of view> Some some may have to scroll to get to the navagation, which is only located at the bottom of the screen. Do you think this is a major problem? I' ve been thinking about adding links to the top of pages (except the first). From an aesthetic standpoint I' d hate to do this, but should I? thanks again, gail

800 x 600 was something of a different story but then that wouldn' t affect me Well, I guess you indirectly answered my question. I suppose I should add additonal links somewhere...not sure if or where though. again, I appreciate all the input. It' s been helpful and jogs the thought process. gail

The links on top are kind-of, sort-of, maybe just a little bit overkill. They don' t detract from the design, but they are not really adding to it either. I was looking at the site and was wondering something. On the pages that have a lot of contextual text, why not throw that text into an I-frame, so that you can keep the continuity of the site? It works as-is, but it looks like your a little bothered by the links not being in the same place when you go to another page. Now that I think about it, maybe you can switch all of the links from the bottom to the top. Lighten the color of the links, kill the bottom links, and you no longer have a problem with the links on the bottom not being consistent. On the other side of that same coin, you might kill you intended layout. So as a wise person once told me " six in one hand, half a dozen in the other." (psst. you' re the wise person)
