search engine stuff! - 7/16/2003 20:02:32
Hi
How can I find all the free search engines that I can submit to?
Can I trust these adverts for companies that offer multiple submissions to thousands of engines?
Which S.E. are the best for paying for?
Thanks Wayne@weightlossforall.com

Hi Wayne,

Mostly today it is about PPC (Pay per click) and pfi (Pay for inclusion). On the free end always start with DMOZ www.dmoz.org . On PPC I have found Google really helped generate my initial traffic. On pfi for $49.00 US you can achieve some good results.

Link exchanges with other sites will help with Google' s PR (Page Rank). However keep in mind not to go for just any link. Go for links that make sense and are of value to your surfers. Also make sure that they other site is on " theme" with yours. I am belligerent here though and just keep in mind what might interest my niche readers, that is value to the surfer and it will show. Always try to use good anchor text in your link out to other sites. A good one to two sentence on topic description of the other site and utilize keywords in it.

IMHO though it all goes back to prep work. Optimize your page titles for each page so that they reflect the subject matter of that particular page. Also utilize that pages keywords in the title. Good content would also add to this. Make the content reflect the keywords and thought of the page or title. Also name pages utilizing the keywords on that page.

Just a few thoughts but by no means the whole picture,

Brian
