Positioning - CSS or Tables - 7/21/2003 8:17:09
I have been advised by one of my customers that using stylesheets for positioning causes problems with Safari the new Mac browser. He also claims that using layers is a problem because Safari won' t recognise links that are on the ' wrong' layer. His advice is that right now everyone should use CSS for formatting only and use tables for positioning. I have found that Netscape won' t recognise the formatting or the position of CSS ' beveled edge buttons' on a test page I made, but I feel the consensus view in this forum is that netscape can be safely ignored because of it' s low market share. But what about the Mac users who are changing to Safari? How significant are they and when added to the Netscape users does this make a good case for only using tables for positioning? Some advice would be useful because I am just about to redesign my company' s site and I don' t want to exclude a significant number of potential customers.
