The begining..... - 8/4/2003 13:05:04
Just sort of playing around at this point. I would like to have a famly site with different photogalleries etc...

Just curious as to how it looks right now.

I left the borders in the tables to let me see what I am doing right now. I' ll remove them later on.

Ideas, suggestions?

Thanks.

Deb,

I would center the logo in the table cell. Can we assume that the two gifs on each side of the logo will be replaced?

Good start!

Hi Charles!
One problem I was having for some reason, was getting the center graphic to center! I couldn' t get it to cooperate with me. Maybe eliminating one of the cells and the graphic to the right? I played with it for a while trying to figure out what I did wrong to make it go towards the left.:)

I' m not sure what I' m going to place there as a picture, or even if I am going to. On the left and right of the logo. I want it to be something of mine, but not sure what to do with it. Maybe a family picture that is faded around the edges? Still tossing that in my mind. For now, lol, the octy with 5 children in her arms reminds me of my 5 young ones at once! lol.

Hi Debbie,

I agree on centering the logo. I am also having problems with the 2 images. They do not blend in with the background. Or it may be the quality of the image. Not sure which one.

Debbie,

Lol. Is it possible to have 5 kids under control? Not in my world.

Well if you want my honest suggestion - go ask Mike & Raj to create something cute. hmmm - New contest:):)

I have not had time to look through graphics.... sorry. But I liked my idea my idea to have people make them.

You have to be able to control 5 children, or you are history! roflol!

I' d love to make something, but am brain unfunctioning right now. (4hours of insurance companies telling you we never got that claim would kill anyones brain! lol)

I had thought about placing a picture of all of us, with sort of fading around it, softening it up a bit, maybe framed, maybe in a heart shape, ahh, the possiblities are endless I' m sure. lol

Here are a few comments based on what you' ve done so far. My suggestion would be to have one main header graphic rather than three sections. This would give the page more a more cohesive look.

I' d make the the header image the entire length of the main table, maybe 740 pixels wide. You would need to merge the three top cells to do this. If you do, I' d also set the width of main table (header, body, footer tables) to the same pixel width of the header graphic, and keep the the tables centered as you have.

Pick one graphic and include it on the image background to the left of the text.

I think I' d make all the table and cell backgrounds white or some very light color rather than having the background texture run throughout the entire page. Let the texture surround the main table rather than be in it. This will make text you add later more legible.

Debbie,

Gail made some good suggestions.

I liked Gails suggestion of a solid color in table as opposed to pattern. She made a valid point about making it more legible.

lol sounds like a good reason to play!

Hmm, hubbie just did our bathroom, He wore a mask when sanding so that the dust wouldn' t get to him:):):):) One of those could increase your work time! roflol

I like both of them Mike, the graphics that is. Not your excuses to play! lol:)

Also right now I just have the tables in there just to show how things are going in perspective with placing things in tables.

Like the center graphic, Somethign I did wrong caused this to align to the left instead of centering. Now I just have to figure out what it is that I did wrong.

<edit>Hmmm, am looking at your placement of words next to the graphics. When I tried to place words in there it wouldn' t work right. I' ll place something in there to show you how it was working out when I did this.</edit>

<second thought edit>Just curious as to opnions on placing buttons as navagation as to just the plain typed in letters.</edit>

<edit>scream!!Why can' t I get this to center? I have reinserted the graphic from the include page, merged cells to make it a one cell table. What am I doing wrong? The cell padding is default to 1, I don' t think this would make a difference would it?:):)</edit>

I removed the graphics now and am in the thought process of what to do next.

I have been reading and re-reading the suggestions in here. We are going on vacation this week, so don't know how much time during the day trips that I'll get online, but intend on working on this in the thought process at least. lol

Thanks for the imput.

I often set graphic alignment via the Picture Properties dialog box. It offers several options, including "center." Right-click on an image to bring up the dialog box.

Thanks _Gail. I was using the thingie on the tool bar to center:):) Unfortunatly I don't have time to print screen what I was using, but will as soon as I get a chance.

Using a graphic, that would make sense to center it as you explained, thanks I apprciate it greatly.

Darn, vacation this week. My comptuer time is going to be limited. Day trips, won't be too far away, lol. LOTS of brown paper bags for breathing into,:)
