Interior design template - 2/18/2001 20:44:00
Hi,Would you mind casting your critical eyes over this page www.materialsgarrigues.com - it's a template for a company selling bathroom and kitchen fittings, tiles, furniture etc. There are a couple of things that concern me - mainly the download time, there are loads of graphics, small but numerous. The icons that accompany the text are just a trial - I'm going to change the border colour but am not sure if they'd look better having different colours or a uniform look. None of the links work and the flags will link to an English and Catalan versions of the site. Any - even the most pickiest - comments are welcome. Thanks for your time. I like the effect at the top. With a 56k modem and an average-to-slow connection, it took approximately 20 seconds to load. My first impression is that it needs more color and the borders around the bullets are a little too thick. Just out of curiosity, I imported the logo into Fireworks and was able to optimize it down to 32 colors before seeing degradation. The file size went from 8.09k to 5.11k. I believe I'd optimize all the graphics as far as I could, then find a way to add color and texture. Bigger bullet photos? Sandy ------------------ www.alleghenyweb.com

First off Andy, I really like how clean and professional the site looks. I'm not so sure about "Corporate Blue" for the colors of and interior design site though, but then again maybe I'm just burned out on that color. I can't really speak to the download time of the page as I have a broadband connection and pretty much anything loads fast. One problem I did come across, however, is your expanding nav system. In IE on the MAC only (NN, IE on the PC were fine, as was NN on the MAC) and Opera on the PC it has some problems. IE MAC displays the expanded menu items on the line below "bienvenidos". When you move your mouse to access the expansion, that portion of the menu disappears since you're rolling off the main menu. In Opera on the PC the expanded menu appears on the right line, but very far to the right. So far, in fact, that by the time you roll over the "Hidrosauna" link the exanded menu is off the screen. ------------------ <--Your information went data way -->

I absolutely love it It needs a footer... or just a very thin 2 px line across the bottom... something to "finish" the white space... 'Tis lovely --Bri PS Nice menus! <bg> ------------------ "I propose that every city have a telephone number 119 - for dyslexics who have an emergency." George W. PPS: I like different colours for the borders... really different... in fact, the colours you have now are too similar IMHO.

Having the borders different colors does help. I'm with Bri, though, about using really different colors. Some of your ceramic tile or fabric pics should have some really nice ones you could use.Sandy ------------------ www.alleghenyweb.com

Hi,Thanks for taking your time and a look. Sandy, you're right about the logo - just halved the size Michael, thanks for looking at all those configurations, Vince is working on it as I speak and hopefully have it completely compatible in a jiffy. Bri, do you reckon the borders are different enough, now? I've just posted one of the inside pages for the client to look at http://www.materialsgarrigues.com/sanitarios/roca.html ..maybe a bit slow Cheers Andy ------------------ Internet Business Solutions S.L. Ooops . . . just got back from the pub. Err, to work then I guess Thanks very much Michael for going to the trouble to test so many configurations. Very much appreciated ------------------ Internet Business Solutions S.L.(Spain)
