However, there are a large number of people using NN, almost all 4+.
NN6 took of by storm, but it seems as though it is being abandoned as quickly as it came in. I really don't think it will be a browser to be delt with any time soon, but could easily set standards for the future. There are also people using many other browsers, both old and new.
Opera, I am told is gaining popularity, but that seems to be with not the average surfer but more with those of us who create sites.
There are nearly as many browsers out there as their are OS.
You must also think about MAC users, or WINDOWS users if you are MAC. The OS versions of each browser is again a bit diffrent.
The best thing you can do is try to be compatible with IE and NN 4+, not worry too much about NN6, and view your site in Opera before you publish.
This is a topic that changes almost weekly, if you want the best results possible from your site, use a Site stats service. Or install a perl script to do it for you.
I like Right Stats. http://www.rightstats.com/sign.asp?mid=173
This service will tell you what browsers, OSs, where your visitors come from, what keywords are being utilized by the search engines, etc. This information will help you decide if you need to create your web site specific to different browsers, languages, etc.
