Add FTP users on Linux/Apache - 8/16/2003 4:22:07
I'm trying to add users in Site Administration in FPE 2002. I type in the user name, password, and role, and click "Add User." Everything I've tried gives this error message: "The password file "/home/mainid/public_html/_vti_pvt/service.pwd" was not created by this client program and cannot be edited safely using this client program." I've tried resetting the permissions on that file, using the same id as one I've set up in CPanel, or using a new id, using a new password, or using the same password as for the main account id. Nothing works.

FTP is admin'd using CPanel Users 2002 (I guess it could be FTP) are admin'd using subwebs If you set up subwebs, then Fp users can also use http If you do: CPanel --> Manage Subdomain --> Add subdomain Then go to FP --> Main Domain --> subdomain --> Tools --> Security --> Permissions --> Select the box that says "Use unique permission" and add users and away you go. you should be able to go from there???
